Journal style guide

Please ensure that all
Spelling, numbers and spacing
British spelling, eg -ise rather than -ize
Spell out numbers under 12
Numbers over 12 should be written as numerical
One space between sentences, rather than two spaces
One line space between paragraphs
Paragraphs should be aligned to the margin rather than first-line indented
Text alignment: justified
Font, headings and quotations
Font: Times New Roman, 12pt
Article title should be capitalised on the first letter of each word, and in bold
Subheadings should not be capitalised
No italics on headings or subheadings
Italics for book titles
Single quotation marks for journal article and book chapter titles
Double quotation marks for quotes
Full stops, commas etc should be placed outside quotation marks, rather than inside them
Block quotes indented, no quotation marks
In-text referencing
In-text citations, rather than footnoted references
In-text referencing examples: (Charles 1985), (Charles 1985, p.27), Charles (1985, p.27)
In-text referencing examples, two or more authors: (Charles & Rhodes 1986), (Charles & Rhodes 1986, p.79), Charles and Rhodes (1986, p.79). Ampersand within the brackets; ‘and’ outside of the brackets.
No space in page number references (p.27)
Block quotes should end with a full stop, followed by the citation in brackets. No punctation following the citation.
File types, images and media
All articles to be sent in .doc format with all track changes removed
Send media files to be sent separately i.e. not embedded in the .doc file
Please indicate where you would like images to be placed as well as preferred captions with photographic credits.
Media rights are the author’s sole responsibility to obtain
Please supply author blurb and contact details for publishing (if desired)
